All members of the Explorer's Club are present and ready for adventure.
We have a lot of travel ahead of us but the final destination is Kyoto, Japan. We are connecting through Dallas because of miles usage and I'm a bit nervous about the short layover. The 13 hour flight should give us plenty of time to establish safety protocols. I'm guessing that's what you do with kids.
I've already learned a few things about traveling with kids. If they are under 13 then they can go through TSA Precheck with you. If they are flagged for a random security screening then they screen you instead. Not kidding. Henry was flagged and they checked my hands for explosive materials instead. The TSA lady was all like "your son was flagged" and I was like "what? I have no idea what you are talking about."
In addition to Kyoto, we will spend a few days in Tokyo with highlights including Tokyo Dome, the fish market and The Robot Restaurant because, well, robots.
Japan will be my 42nd country visited and Henry's 3rd (USA, Dominican Republic). Let's hope it is a great trip and inspires Henry to start his own 50 by 50 quest or maybe even 20 by 20.
New tech on this trip... Google Clips camera, Pixel Buds and the first long trip with my Pixel Book. In addition, although it is not new, I think we will be making generous use of Google Translate on this trip. I'm curious how it works with the Pixel Buds but my expectations are low.
See you after our 13 hour flight...
