We have arrived in Sri Lanka. The trip was long but super easy.
We started off with pancakes from the make-your-own pancake machine in the British Airways lounge. I wish I had one of these in my house.
Qatar Airways is by far our new favorite airline. They are so far above all the others that it is not even a competition.
Here we are in our twin bed QSuite
Not only are the suites super comfortable and have great entertainment options but you can also eat whenever you want by just ordering off the a la carte menu which includes snack, dinner and breakfast items. Henry was "Master Henry" for 12 hours. They did lose some points for their horrible Wifi though.
Master Henry waiting for lunch
I have nothing to say about the second flight because both Henry and I slept through the entire 5 hours. Quickest flight ever.
We are staying the night at the Wallawwa Hotel in Colombo. This is just a quick stop to have a good dinner, a refreshing swim and a good night's sleep before the real touring starts tomorrow.
Our room
So far Sri Lanka is as we expected. The people are very happy we are here because they had virtually no tourists and no work for 3 months following the Easter terrorist attack. Security is very high with long queues of cars being inspected to go into the airport and checkpoints along the road.
Really? After 24 hours of travel?
Dinner was excellent. We jumped right into trying new stuff.
Peking duck rolls and pork skewers
Prawn curry. I'm not sure what I was supposed to do with all the stuff in the little bowls. I tried mixing it together with the rice. I should have watched a YouTube video before.
And, finally, the search for the worst ice cream is over. Ladies and Gentlemen, we have a winner. I give you Chili and Jaggery ice cream.
Imagine a combination between spicy and soapy.
Until tomorrow...
love the sweet candle on Master Henry's tray table!
