Chris and Henry are in Africa

After 29 hours of traveling, we have safely arrived at the Boma Guesthouse in Entebbe, Uganda.  Not only is this a new country for both of us but it is also a new continent for Henry.

All the flights were easy.  While a big disadvantage of having a 1 AM flight out of JFK is that nothing, and I mean nothing not even a Hudson News is open, the advantage is that we both slept for the first 8 hours of the flight into Doha.

Where Grand Central has its clock, the Doha airport has a creepy bear.   Although "Meet me under the creepy bear" does not quite have the same ring.

We were able to skip a Covid test upon arrival because we had both recent negative tests and vaccination cards.  I did mess up the visa though.  The online application asked for information about the minor I was traveling with so I assumed Henry did not need also need a visa.  I assumed wrong.  It just caused a slight delay so not a catastrophe.

We are staying the night at the Boma Guesthouse. As Butch would say "it's clean."

The plan for the day is to take a behind the scenes tour of the Entebbe Zoo.  We leave early tomorrow morning for our camp to see the Gorillas.  I don't anticipate having internet access at the Gorilla camp so it might be a few days before the next post.
