Chris and Henry pet a rhino

Even though we slept on the plane, the combination of the time change and the long trip has us feeling quite exhausted.

We have 2 days to spend in Entebbe; one before we visit the gorillas and one after while we wait for our covid tests needed before entering Kenya.

As you can imagine, there's not a lot to do in Entebbe so we are pacing ourselves.  Today, we visited the Entebbe Conservation Center for a "Behind the Scenes" program.  I feared it would just be a horrible tourist trap but it did not disappoint.  We were allowed to pet and feed rhinos, giraffes, chimpanzees and a lion.  Most of the animals at the center were rescued either from a bad domestic situation or from injuries. They rehabilitate most of the animals and then return them to the wild.

The animals are named after either their sponsor or rescuer.

This is Sheraton sponsored by the hotel chain.

And here we are feeding the giraffes
